SEO copywriting is the art of writing readable and informative website copy that also includes an effective density of keywords. In order to satisfy the needs of the visitor to your site and the requirements of the search engines, the copy must be easy to understand and have the correct keyword density and placement.
Keyword density is the ratio of a keyword or key-phrase to the total number of words (referred to as the depth) on a page. It is a major influence on search engine optimisation. To improve search engine ranking, your keyword density must not be too high but then again, not too low.
Try to aim for a keyword density of between 2% and 7%. Don’t try to stuff all your keywords together, separated by commas. Search engines may see this as spam and will consequently penalise your rankings.
Keywords are most effective when placed towards the top of the page on your site but one good tip is also to end the copy with the relevant keywords in the last paragraph.
